Kapil Kaustubh Sharma, brother of veteran director Anil Sharma, has worked with yesteryears diva Zeenat Aman as a co actor and writer in Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun and Dunno Y2 Life Is A Moment. When he decided to write a web series Love Life & Screw Ups, Zeenat Aman was his natural choice for a 50-year-old glamorous spinster, who is full of life and fun. He wanted to tap her comic timing and present her again in a mold of a diva like her yesteryears Qurbani, Heera Panna and Manoranjan! Script, actors, costumes, everything was sorted, only director needed to be finalized. As Kapil was in talks with couple of popular directors, Zeenat suggested to him, since he is involved in all the cinematic departments of the series, why not he only directs it. Kapil was hesitant to take the added responsibility of direction and felt maybe its too early for him to enter in the direction field.
On that Zeenat told him, since the story, the scenes are his creation, no one will do a better justice than he on the celluloid, to portray the concept which he has visualized. Also, whenever he narrates the script, she can sense, that he has in him what it takes to be a good director and he inspires the actors to deliver their best. In fact, she told him, she would confirm acting in the series only if she is confident of the director he selects. But if he himself is directing it, she can confirm of acting in it!!! And that night, Kapil couldn’t sleep. As he started preparing himself to don the hat of the director! “I am grateful to Zeenatji, for entrusting so much trust and confidence in me. I always wanted to direct but was delaying it, thinking it’s still early and I need to prepare myself more. If she would have not pushed me, I wouldn’t have taken the challenge to prove myself. It is an honor to direct in your debut an actor, who has been directed by legends like Raj Kapoor, Manoj Kumar, Manmohan Desai, BR Chopra, Raj Khosla, Feroz Khan, Nasir Hussain, Prakash Mehra and Shakti Samanta!!!”
