For over a decade Bollywood ace dancer choreographer Sandip Soparrkar has been winning various awards for his contribution in the field of dance and social work. A Sikh student on the campus of University of North Carolina Charlotte had to face harassment last week. He was handcuffed and detained merely for wearing a kirpan — a Sikh article of faith.
Such mistreatment of a Sikh student and gross ignorance displayed by the 76-year-old university about Sikhism shocked the Sikh community around the world. Sikhs have been part of the American social fabric for over a century. People on social media questioned the lack of understanding about Sikhism at the university, known for taking pride in its diversity.
UNITED SIKHS applauded the quick response from the university — as Chancellor Dr. Sharon L. Gaber issued an apology on the university website. We had written to the Dean of Students, Dr. Christine Reed Davis, seeking an apology for the misconduct that had taken place with Aman Singh. The apology from the Chancellor stated that they will use the incident “as a learning opportunity by engaging in constructive dialogue with Sikh students and employees”. It also stated that they “apologize”, that the student didn’t feel “welcomed, supported and safe” that day, as they wanted every student to feel so, further adding that they are “committed to ensuring it doesn’t happen again.”
UNITED SIKHS shared with them a Sikhism Fact Sheet. We also offered to provide sensitivity-training to the university staff and security, about Sikhism and Sikh articles of faith.
“Despite curt behavior by the police on the campus, Aman Singh was graceful, resilient and showed leadership — everyone should practice their faith freely and fearlessly,” Manvinder Singh, UNITED SIKHS Advocacy Director said.
“All institutions, particularly, universities that attract students and staff from around the world must have a mandate to sensitize students and staff about Sikhism and other world religions, cultures and traditions. It is essential to create a culture of co-existence to prevent incidents of racism and misconduct with students and members of any community,” he stated.
We appreciate the efforts of Sikh organizations around the world for raising their voice in this case and lending support to Aman Singh.

थाईलैंड के मिनिस्ट्री ऑफ कॉमर्स, डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ इंटरनेशनल ट्रेड प्रोमोशन (डीआईटीपी) ने जेम एंड ज्वेलरी इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ थाईलैंड (जीआईटी) के प्रतिनिधियों और थाई ट्रेड सेंटर, मुंबई के साथ मिलकर बैंकॉक में 7-11 सितंबर 2022 को आयोजित होने वाले 67वें बैंकॉक जेम्स एंड ज्वेलरी फेयर (बीजीजेएफ) के लिए लेट्स गो टू बैंकॉक रोड शो आयोजित किया। इसके बाद एक विशेष फैशन शो का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें मॉडल्स ने आगंतुकों के सामने भाईलैंड के जेम एंड ज्वेलरी की रेंज प्रदर्शित की।
भारत की लैब ग्रोन डायमंड एंड ज्वेलरी प्रमोशन काउंसिल (एलजीडीपीसी) और डीआईटीपी ने यह समझा कि कैमे दोनों देश एक-दूसरे के विशेष संसाधनों का महत्वपूर्ण रूप से लाभ उठा सकते हैं। एलजीडीपीसी ने थाईलैंड को बड़ी संख्या में लैब ग्रोन डायमंड्स गोल्ड, सिल्वर और रुबीज़ का निर्यात करने का प्रस्ताव रखा है और बदले में थाईलैंड भारत को समान मूल्य के अपने रूबी सिल्वर और व्हाइट गोल्ड का निर्यात करेगा।
इससे अर्थव्यवस्था को और बढ़ावा मिलेगा और दोनों देशों के बीच द्विपक्षीय व्यापार मजबूत होगा।
भारत थाईलैंड के रत्नाभूषण और विशेषकर चांदी के आभूषणों के लिए एक प्रमुख बाजार रहा है। यह पिहले वर्ष से +158.21% की दर से तेजी से बढ़ रहा है। दोनों देशों के बीच सदियों पुरानी सभ्यताओं का विशिष्ट जुड़ाव रहा है। हाल के वर्षों में से दोनों पड़ोसी देश विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में उत्कृष्ट व्यावसायिक सम्बन्ध साझा कर रहे हैं।

Deadly mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in the small city of Uvalde ,South Texas began on Tuesday 24th May, where children n adults got rigorously killed is a heart pain for America.
My heart condolences to the family of children n teachers who died in this deadly gun shot.
Very sad to hear such a worst innocent killing.
It was a 80 minutes real horror at Robb Elementary school.
21 people was ultimately killed in which 19 were children and two teachers..
It’s a real tough situation for the government to handle it and the families who lost the lives of their loved ones to even believe it .

On Sunday, 29 May 2022, at Studio 50Fifty, Texas City, Texas, USA, Mr. Prashant Gupta, an Indian resident of America, recorded Ghazal, lyrics by Ashfaq Khopekar and Anjan Sagari and Music by Aligani in his melodious voice. Prashant Gupta is an IT Solutions Architecture Manager by profession, lives in Texas with his small family, wife Rachna, sons Kartikeya and Harshil. He grabbed this opportunity on the strength of his ability through Star Maker while trying out for playback.
The team of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation selects eligible and deserving singers by the party room created in Star Maker app and gives them at no cost a chance to do playback singing of songs of upcoming new film, album or serial in any recording studio in their own city. .
This series was started using the time of lockdown. So far five new singers Vasudha Pandya from Vadodara Gujarat, Masum Raza from West Bengal, Taheer Khan from Ghaziabad UP, Manju Sinha from Pune Maharashtra, Kleiman from Uttan Mumbai and Taruna Shukla from Madhya Pradesh have been given a chance.
