Hindi film “Purab Ki Awaj” is made on the life of freedom fighter Birangana Kanaklata, a martyr of Indian freedom struggle, 1942, under the banner of LPKG Film Production. Kanaklata had embraced martyrdom at the tender age of 16 years on 20th Sept 1942 for the love of her country. Indian freedom fighters like Shahid Bhagat Singh, Mangal Pandey and others are well known and popular in India as well as globally. But, similar is not the case with the fearless and daring freedom fighter of Assam, Birangana Kanaklata, who had boldly faced the bullets of the police during the freedom struggle of India in 1942 and laid down her life for the country. LPKG Films Production had made an honest effort to make everyone aware about this brave heart from Assam by narration of her story in this movie.

Why must art only be hung up in art galleries?
Why must the finest graphic design be enshrined only within the walls of museums and temples?
Why must street art only be on the roads?
Art and Facts stands at the crossroads of art and everyday life. Razia’s intention is to take art from the walls of galleries and temples, from the pages of Indian folklore, from dance forms and tribal art, from forgotten nooks and crannies of rural India and hand it to a woman as a form of adornment. So a Krishna can be playing a Basuri right under your ears, as an earring, while the doors of a Haveli open to the world in the form of a necklace. She does not believe in mass manufacturing. So, each jewellery line is individually designed by her, hand painted and crafted by her team of artists.
Every collection of Art and Fact is an attempt to shrink the canvas, to make the art of India a personal expression for its women.
Razia Kunj
I don’t design jewellery. I design stories.
Stories of my land, my people, its folk lore, traditions, mythology, art, craft, dance and all the things that make up an idea called India. And this is my story.
When my daughter was six years old, she had to perform Dandiya dance in school and I had to dress her up. I got her a beautiful Chaniya Choli but forgot about the jewellery completely. It was too late to go and purchase anything. I promised my daughter that when she wakes up for school in the morning I will find something suitable for her from my jewellery box. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything suitable for a six-year old in there.
Incidentally, at that time there was some carpentry work going on in my house. I saw some pieces of wood lying around the house. I collected some, painted it and stuck some sequins and mirrors, tied it with some beads and thread that I had in my craft cupboard. And a beautiful piece of jewellery was ready for my daughter. She was thrilled to bits to see her new and unique piece of jewellery.
That was the birth of this idea. 10 years ago.
I got so fascinated and excited thatI went and purchased some carpentry materials and started experimenting with new designs using the same medium. It was very exciting and satisfying painting each piece of jewellery, crafting it, beading it since I have always been a person who likes to paint and work with my hands.
Around the same time I started my own advertising agency, thought blurb, with my husband, Vinod Kunj. Now my daughter is 17years old and my agency has successfully completed nine years.
Meanwhile, my discovery went through its own evolutionary process. I started gravitating towards the art of adornment. There were a few questions that kept popping up in my head that I just had to resolve.
Why must art only be hung up in art galleries?
Why must great design be enshrined only within the walls of museums and temples?
Why must street art only be on the roads?
My designstake art from the walls of galleries and temples, from the pages of Indian folklore, from dance forms and tribal art, from forgotten nook and crannies of rural India and hand it to a woman as a form of adornment. So a Krishna can be playing a Basuri right under your ears, as an earring, while the doors of a Haveli open to the world in the form of a necklace.
My inspiration also comes from everything that exists around me. What I feel, what I touch and what I have seen in the past, or experienced, and the effect it has had or created on me. I believe art is just a transformation of an ordinary experience into an extraordinary one. You just transform that feeling into another form. In that process consciously or sub-consciously you create something new, something beautiful.
Jewellery just happens to be the medium of expression for me. That’s why more than jewellery I like to call it wearable art.

Satnam Singh Bhamra has been a media’s sensation after he got drafted into the NBA when he was just 19. Netflix recently released a documentary titled ‘One in a Billion’ on this 21-year-old, making him the youngest Indian sportsman to have his life story recorded.
In the past when Satnam was first drafted in NBA, Abhishek Bachchan had written a column in a leading newspaper stating, “I believe he can be that change agent. Like I keep saying, he has shown us the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. He has proved to us that if you stay true to your dream and trust yourself, you can achieve whatever you want. I hope his story inspires every boy who shoots some hoops in the morning, goes to school and comes back to show a few more.”
Bachchan was overjoyed at the Punjab boy’s achievement in 2015, “My joy knew no bounds when I heard that Satnam Singh was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks on Friday morning. It has been a fantastic few months for basketball in India. First it was Sim Bhullar, a naturalised Canadian with firm Indian roots, who did us proud. And, now, it’s Satnam. Simply put, he has just given all of us another reason to walk with our chests puffed up. Mind you, this is a huge achievement. Very huge. I think it’s a big step for not just for Indian basketball, but the very idea of sport in our country.”
This appreciation towards the other is not one sided. Satnam also told a newspaper in the past that he never misses any of Abhishek’s films. And more recently when asked who would be the right person to play lead if a biopic was made on his life, Satnam didn’t bat an eyelid before saying, “Abhishek Bachchan”
Junior Bachchan promptly took to twitter and promised to do this biopic. But on one condition. That Satnam wins the NBA championship first.
Abhishek has been an ardent fan of basket ball and had gone to watch the Lakers take on the Celtics when he was just 8. He had said to a leading paper, “In those days, my favorite NBA team used to play its home games at The Forum. It was only in 1999 that they shifted to The Staples Centre. I vividly remember watching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, AC Green, Kurt Rambis, James Worthy, Byron Scott and Michael Cooper in action that day. I haven’t stopped following, playing or talking about basketball since that summer trip to the United States more than 31 years ago.
Subsequently, I took up the game in boarding school and enjoyed it thoroughly. In fact, I regularly play at the Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu. That’s how close the sport is to my heart.”
Abhishek had also become the first Indian to play in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game celebrity the same year Satnam was drafted in NBA first.
