On the occasion of Baisakhi, the Punjabi Cultural Heritage Board hosted the Punjabi Icon Awards and honoured the eminent Punjabi Achievers of various fields. The event was headed by the President of Punjabi Cultural Heritage Board (PCHB), Shri Charan Singh Sapra.
The programme saw an electrifying musical performance by Lakhwinder Wadali, the Punjabi music sensation where the crowd was seen dancing all along. The evening was hosted by stunning host, Gurjit Singh and the Chief Guest of the event was the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Shri. Gurmit Singh.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Punjabi Icon Awards 2023 given to Punjabis who have excelled in their respective areas of expertise. This year award recipients who were present at the event were Bollywood Actor Mr. Aparshakti Khurana, Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited Mr. Sanjiv Mehta, India’s first Blade runner Major D.P. Singh, Former President of Automotive Sector, M&M Mr. Rajan Wadhera & CEO of Prestige Office Ventures Mr. Jagdeep Singh Marwah.
Actor Rajesh Puri, Mr.Sanjay Nirupam (Ex MP), Mr. Bhai Jagtap (MLC & President INC Mumbai) Mr. Jaijeet Singh (Thane Police Commissioner) were also present at the event to celebrate the festivity. Audience was seen overwhelmed with their presence at a Baisakhi celebration in Mumbai.
Shri. Charan Singh Sapra said “Baisakhi being the beginning of harvest is also considered as a New Year of Punjabis across the Globe. It feels good to see Punjabis and non-Punjabis enjoying Baisakhi together with so much affection and enthusiasm. Baisakhi is a Punjabi festival that farmers traditionally observe as a thanksgiving day by expressing their gratitude for the abundant harvest and for praying prosperity in future. ”

Arribada: The Arrival follows the story of a man named Joy and Ollie, a turtle, as they navigate through life and embark on an unusual journey of discovery and healing. The inspiration of the book is drawn from an esoteric realm that opens up only to the ardent seeker and pure souls. The result, a trance-induced narrative that flows in from the inner world to teach the earthly people life lessons in the form of a story which has its own rhythm, sound and healing qualities.
Reading Arribada one may sense a `Castanedian’ streak and reminisce about the writings of Carlos Castaneda. In a subtle way it makes us aware of the grand universal scheme of things and the interconnectedness of everything in nature.
Commenting on the name of the book Arribada, Samantha says, “The Olive Ridley turtles are born on one beach and while they will feed on a different beach, every year they will come back to the beach where they were born – either to mate or just be around the waters. This behaviour of the Ridley turtles is called arribada which literally means `arrival by the sea’ in Spanish.”
“I have been a shamanic healer for a while now. Being a managing director of a company, it is not easy to drop everything and just be on your spiritual journey. So when I sit down and do my prayers I often get messages from the universe and strong intuitions. It was around 3-4 years back when Covid hit us. While I was doing my prayers, I got the message that I needed to write a book. So this happened when I started asking my guides what I am going to achieve by writing the book. The answer was that I will be able to convey the message that the universe actually wants many people to hear in a more comprehensive way,” says Samantha Kochharr.
Samantha, who started her journey in the hair and beauty industry at the age of 11, has mentored young talent for many years now. She has worked in the movie and fashion industry internationally and nationally for many years. She is also an avid painter and potter. Born into a business family, she is the daughter of the legendary aromatherapist – Dr Blossom Kochhar.
Samantha lives in Delhi and is passionate about food. She runs a popular delicatessen in Delhi, The Tea Room, where the menu is based on her old family recipes and her extensive travels.

Parsharam V. Sutaar had his art education leading to G.D. Arts (Drawing & Painting) in Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai. Then he displayed his thematic work endowed with the relevant artistic muses and textural finesses and the desired visual effects at strategic arenas in leading art galleries at Mumbai, Nagpur, Taiwan Taipei, Chennai etc. His presentations in solo and group art exhibitions in these galleries were highly appreciated and commended by the art fraternity. He took part in the art camps organised by Govt. of Maharashtra at Ganpatipule, M.P. Govt. in Bhopal and for Indian Army based on the gallantry services of Indian Soldiers etc. He also assisted and took active part in eight fund raising Master Strokes art exhibitions for Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai & 2 shows for N.G.M.A. Mumbai. The present series depicts the subtle nuances of the Indian cultural traditions and heritage of the historical monuments, temples, shrines in an expressive and artistic style. He has been deeply inspired by the beauty of Nature and relevance of the historical monuments at various places. He has incorporated the architectural details of various monumental buildings and the surrounding environment of places of historical importance and cultural relevance at Ajanta, Ellora, Pandharpurand many more places in his endeavours. His lucid visual language of expressions incorporates the use of vivid muses, iconic motifs and spiritual extravaganza of sentimental expressions in apt religious and cultural fervours and their sanctity in proper perspectives. He has artistically and aesthetically adorned his works with ethnic and eternal visual effects at the desired arenas in the work in order to lay emphasis on their relevance in the modern materialistic world full of enjoyment & pleasures and that peculiar attitude of the masses. He has demonstrated numerous aspects of the human attachment towards the monuments of historical and cultural significance and the necessity of the desired efforts towards maintaining their sanctity and relevance in the modern era. He has made and displayed paintings on Buddha and other deities like Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu, Indra Sabha, Kailash Temple, Mahishasurmardini, etc in his style.
