In its continued endeavor to support the country’s tourism revival efforts whilst fortifying connectivity in its single largest market India, SriLankan Airlines hosted yet another exceptional group of Indian celebrities and influencers. The group comprised of social media influencers, youtubers & actors specifically from the South Indian cities and arrived in Colombo on Saturday, 26th March.
For six days, these influencers toured across the island through a curated itinerary featuring Sri Lanka’s rich ecological and cultural vibrancy entwined with the inherent island attributes of luxury, wellness and hospitality.
The influencers group includes names like Avika Sameer Gor (famous celebrity and renowned by its character of Anandi in Indian Television History), Gehna Haresh Sippy (Tollywood Actor of Chor Bazaar fame), Apoorva Srinivasan Aringundrum (Vloggers from MySouthDiva) Ruhani Sharma (Tollywood celebrity) Tanya Hope (Telugu, Tamil & Kannada Celebrity) and Manoj Kumar Katokar ( celebrity photographer and creator of Mysouthdiva ). Through their individual social media platforms, their stories of travel have been reaching lakhs of their followers and travellers in India.
The group stayed at Cinnamon Bentota Beach for the entire duration and will travell across nearby scenic destinations. The group will also visited a nearby rainforest reserve area for “tree plantation” activity. Not all heroes wear capes- in fact, they can even be a law enforcement official. This gentleman in question is immigration officer, Major Mohammed Ahmed Matar, who made it his mission to help a distraught Indian Expat’s family in the UAE even after his duty hours.
The Indian family had faced an emergency when the expat, his wife and child were travelling to India to visit the wife’s grandmother, who was in critical condition.
“We were rushing to the airport,” the expat stated. “All was going smooth during our check-in at Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) airport. But when we proceeded to the Immigration counter, we never expected the scenario that came in front of us.” The immigration officer at the desk explained the expat that his child’s visa had already expired, however, the expat believed that it was valid until the next year. This mishap resulted in the immigration team advising the distressed family to visit the Dubai office to sort the issue, and that they could not board the flight until the issue was resolved. However, the family did not believe that they could travel to Dubai and get back in time to RAK to board their flight.
As a last resort, the family travelled to Dubai to sort the issue. “When we reached the Al Tawar Office, the receptionist asked us to visit the main branch instead to solve the issue. Being absolutely exhausted from the day’s events, I requested her to help us in some way.” The family were then directed to a gentleman who was finishing his duties.
It was then that the patriarch explained his issue to Major Ahmed Matar, who actively listened to the man’s woes. “He went back to his office and came back out after a few hours, telling me that it would be solved, and that I could fly back home in the next 24 hours”, the expat stated. The family was relieved, but money was also an issue, given that the family of 3 they were not able to get a refund for their last flight.
“Now the issue was the money to buy tickets for all three of us to travel. As I was leaving the office, Major Matar pulled out his wallet and gave me enough cash to travel back home,” the expat said. “He is a real hero whom we cannot forget. He went beyond his duty hours to help us and discuss the issue personally.”
This scenario displays yet another heroic deed by the UAE’s exemplary government officials, who are the unsung heroes of the nation. The UAE continues to help expats all over the country, with an approach that is characterised by kindness, respect, and tolerance.

The fact that this is not recognized is still worth thousands of innocent lives, and now we are talking about a planetary threat.”

“I demand that Russian President Putin be recognized as mentally ill and incompetent. Russian President Putin has lost touch with reality, openly threatening the world to use nuclear weapons and demonstrating his readiness to carry out this threat. Based on the documented threats of the patient Putin and the inhuman war unleashed on his orders in Ukraine, I demand from the UN an official statement of the fact of the insanity of citizen Putin. I demand not to carry out the orders of Putin as incompetent. For those who will transfer Putin to doctors, I demand a guarantee of freedom, as the saviors of the world. I demand an amnesty for all those who, by deceit or coercion, served the inhuman system created by the mentally ill Putin. I demand an immediate stop to all military operations of the Russian army in Ukraine and in the world. I demand an immediate withdrawal of troops from all occupied territories in Ukraine. I demand democratic elections in the Russian Federation under international control, the complete demilitarization of the Russian Federation, and the Marshall Plan for the integration of the Russian Federation into the post-war global economy,” explained Andrei Lubalin (alias Avinash Puri).
It is important to note that the implementation of this scenario involves preventing the inevitable and uncontrollable chaos in the Russian Federation due to unprecedented international sanctions. This issue is no less important.

Zurich: Delhi based organization Confluence under the leadership of Smita and Amitabh Srivastava celebrated 75years of India’s Independence influenced by Prime Minister’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Zurich in Switzerland and impressed the swiss audience with the electrifying cultural programs.
The NGO has been organizing these kinds of programs at different cities of India and abroad earlier also to highlight the history and culture of India. “The objective of the Zurich event was to promote the brand, Bharat, overseas and to hail the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat,” said Smita Srivastava founder and Chairperson of Confluence.
The event had several elements including Bharat Gaurav Samman (Award for Leadership and Excellence in different categories), Swadeshi Manch (Cultural extravaganza), Swadeshi Wellness by health and wellness Guru Dr Mickey Keki Mehta, Swadeshi Connect (B2B Meeting) followed by Indian dance performances and Swadeshi Parade- fashion shows by designers Rina Dhaka, Simran Ahuja and Smita.
“The crucial differences which distinguish human societies and human beings are not biological. They are cultural and in fact cultural differences should not separate us from each other, but rather cultural diversity brings a collective strength that can benefit all of humanity,’ said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts at the opening of the session at Hotel Hyatt Zurich.
KS Kochhar, Rakesh Sonkar, Ruby Bakshi Khurdi, Dr Mickey Keki Mehta, Rina Dhaka, Rahul Sonkar, Parveen Rani, Mahender Singh C Jadeja attended the grand function. The event was supported by Indo Swiss Film and Cultural Forum of ICMEI.
The entire team of Confluence was overwhelmed on receiving virtual good wishes from Meenakashi Lekhi Honourable Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture.
In her message, she appreciated the initiatives by the NGO in organising cultural, business-oriented and knowledge exchange programmes.
