Over 80 Mumbai’s Rotary Clubs Come Together to Strengthen Media collaboration and Enhance Public Image

Over 200 Rotarians from over 80 Rotary Clubs attended an unique seminar focused on enhancing Rotary’s Public Image held at the Rotary Centre, Juhu, Mumbai on 11th September,2016.   The purpose of this seminar was to discuss means of strengthening collaboration with media, government, other NGO and corporates alike.
Rotary International is more than 110 years old NGO dedicated in the service of humanity. Rotary district 3141 comprising of over 80 Rotary clubs have planned to carry out over 1000 community service projects until June 2017 touching more than 2 million lives in Mumbai and adjacent areas.  Major Thrust areas to be 300 diabetes control camps, building 250 toilets, 400 pediatric heart surgeries and adopting over 30 railway stations.

In the last two months, Mumbai’s Rotary Clubs have collected over 2500 bottles through 25 blood donation camps, planted over 10000 trees, adopted 20 railway stations, participation by over 40000 school children in Painting Competition,   started work on several toilet block construction, inaugurated eye banks, skin banks, etc. Over 2000 Rotarians pledged their organs to save lives.

Mumbai. September 13, 2016. Rotary’s District 3141 comprising Mumbai region has called for the corporate world to support its thrust areas of hosting 300 diabetes control camps, building 250 toilets, 300 pediatric heart surgeries and adopting over 30 railway stations in a mission to impact over 2,000,000 lives of people living around Mumbai. Rotarian Gopal Rai Mandhania, Governor for Rotary District 3141 said that so much good work is being done by Rotary but more efforts are needed to build awareness through Public Relations. Rotarian Subhash Kulkarni, Immediate Past District Governor as forum leader emphasized on the importance of structured Public Image building process. Public Relation (Media) Avenue Chair, Rotarian Vikas Upadhyay stressed on the critical media link to strengthen collaboration with government, other NGOs and corporates while Public Relation Avenue Chair (Digital), Ravi Jaswani conveyed the importance of digital media in today’s world.
A series of Diabetes checkup camps are being organized in the month of September & October across Mumbai with major ones being held on18th & 25th September and 9th October, 2016. For more information, please logon to www.rotary3141diabetes.com.
A walkathon is being planned on 2nd October,2016 at Juhu & Marine Drive  where over 3000 students , teachers, Parents ,Rotary members ,residents, Senior Citizens are expected to join carrying  messages of Prime Minister like BETI BAHAO,GIVE IT UP ,SWACAH BHARAT ,Rotary’s initiative on Peace & Conflict resolution, Save Water ,Pediatric Heart Surgery  ,Diabetes awareness.
Rotary International is working jointly this year with various hospitals, other NGOs, Western Railway and Central Railway for its welfare projects at Mumbai. Besides the district thrust areas, the projects that individual Clubs execute include eye banks, skin tissue banks, sponsoring education of poor children, building check dams, vocational guidance, education for poor children, education scholarships, providing aids to persons with disabilities, tree plantation, Rotary Youth Exchange program with many countries. During the period July 2015 – June 2016, Rotary in Mumbai district did over 900 projects.
Rotary is all set to work closely with the media as partners in the quest to serve humanity with comprehensive engagements….
