Retrospective Show – 101th Solo Art Exhibition
When we first look at Yashwant Shriwadkar’s painting, we are drawn to a vibrant, expansive canvas, that capture the fleeting light and ever-changing atmosphere in nature. The tactile strokes play with the viewer’s senses, delivering an effect of spontaneity and effortlessness while masking carefully constructed compositions. Each time you look at his canvas, a new feature appears, as if purposefully hidden by the artist under the masterfully blended colors. Deep yellow flashed in the night, pastel blue fading into midday, and pink melting in the morning sky.
Shirwadkar perceived our world quite differently. For him, the seemingly mundane sights became compelling experiences,as a cascading waterfall or a majestic mountain peak. He simply painted the things he saw and felt, surrendering to the experiences and situations of the moment. He had no interest in depicting history, mythology, or the lives of great individuals. Instead, he attempted to capture how a landscape or an object appeared to him at a particular instant. Varanasi held a special fascination for him, leading to more than 18 visits to the mystical city. The gentle waters of the Ganges, the boat rides, the morning worship at the Ghats, as well as the majestic architecture has been aptly arrested by the artist. His artistic journey also encompassed landscapes from Kerala, Rajasthan, Kashmir, and Goa, along with large commission canvases like Hyde Park and the Gateway of India.
Shirwadkar’s approach of using a palette knife and building up layers in oil-on-canvas aligns with the textural and vibrant qualities often associated with impressionistic art. It’s a technique that can evoke a sense of movement and atmosphere in landscape paintings. Each layer was painted on top of the previous without waiting for the earlier layer to dry completely. Rather than worrying about the technical accuracy of the painting, he went with the flow of his mood and created a sense of movement in the work. Seeing him work on the colors with palette knife is a sight to behold, almost beyond words to describe. The colors seemed to merge one into another, slowly shifting: yellow to orange and then red, and at times blue slowly turned into green and vice versa.
Color and light played a profound role in Shriwadkar’s painting process. Before painting on the canvas, he made several sketches on site, in the open, using sunlight as the only source of light. By using low chroma variations and rendering shadows in color, the artist skillfully captured the fleeting nuances of natural light.He also tried to emphasize the passage of time in his works. The paint was left unmixed, producing a contrast between strokes that didn’t blend completely on the canvas but appeared so to the eye. The deliberate choice to forgo intricate details in favor of bold paint strokes added to the overall impact of portraying the essence of the subject.
Shirwadkar’s oil-on-canvases garnered widespread acclaim, resonating not just with Indian audiences but captivating hearts globally. He received invitations to prestigious international platforms, such as sponsored exhibitions and notable events like the 42nd Anniversary Leadership Summit in Washington in 2017, showcasing the artist’s recognition on a global scale. His path in visual art, however faced several obstacles, stemming from initial resistance within his family against pursuing a career in the fine arts. Undeterred by opposition, his passion for painting prevailed, leading him to stand firm on his decision despite strong familial objections. Eventually, Shirwadkarwent on to study at the renowned Sir J. J. School of Arts in Mumbai, marking a crucial step in his artistic journey.
Creating art was a form of Sadhana—a daily practice, for the artist. He painted regularly, shaping a distinctive style that involved the use of a palette knife and occasionally unconventional mediums such as a shaving blade. Even after achievingmastery over his technique, he continued to paint with awareness, discipline and intention of growth. Like a spiritual practitioner (sadhaka) heworked to achieve control over ego, connect deeper, and realign with his’s inner self.
Spanning over 45 years, Shirwadkar’s prolific artistic career was marked by an impressive legacy of around 100 solo exhibitions and over 260 group shows both in India and internationally. Through this extensive body of work, he not only established a prosperous art career but also earned a prominent reputation in the art world before his passing in 2020.The enduring allure of his works, continue to generate curiosity and awe in the younger generations of artists as well as viewers.
It is interesting to note that in his inaugural solo exhibition in 1977, Shirwadkar showcased watercolorseascapes. Employing a technique of blending watercolors to achieve a bleed and bloom effect, he crafted misty seascapes with soft, faded edges. Carefully playing with light contrast, he diluted and highlighted specific areas while leaving others dry, inviting light into the artwork. This technique skillfully evoked a vaporous atmosphere, adding a unique dimension to his early watercolors.
Shirwadkar’s approach to painting landscapes went beyond mere depictions of sites or anonymous figures. His focus delved into capturing the enveloping warmth and color of sunlight, not merely the physical surroundings. His art aimed to encapsulate the transformative impact of sunlight on specific moments, highlighting the soul of the scene and its evolution through time and atmospheric changes.

When asked about the rumors of Krushna not co operating with promotions of ‘Fire of love RED’, Rajeev clarified “Krushna Abhishek has loved every frame of ‘Fire of love RED’ and is very much excited and keen to promote our film, but he wants to do it right at the right time – just about ten days before the release date and I agree with him and am not bothered with the gossips about it!”

Noida, India – Literature is an integral and important part of any country’s progress. The 9th edition of the Global Literary Festival Noida, organised by the Asian Academy of Arts in collaboration with the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry, commenced with grandeur and grandiosity at Marwah Studios in Noida Film City. This remarkable event has successfully brought together representatives from seventy countries, including esteemed authors, writers, poets and artists from diverse regions, all united to celebrate the essence of love, peace and unity through the medium of art and culture, echoing the festival’s slogan: ‘G-70: Uniting through Art and Culture.’
The festival was inaugurated amidst great fervour and amazing enthusiasm, as distinguished guests and attendees witnessed the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, a symbolic representation of enlightenment and wisdom. Following this, garlanding of Lord Ganesha took place, signifying auspicious beginnings.
Dr Sandeep Marwah, President of GFJN and Chancellor of AAFT University, expressed his excitement at the festival’s opening, highlighting the convergence of creative minds from around the world. Consul General of the Union of Comoros, acknowledged the significant impact of events organized by ICMEI and Marwah Studios in strengthening bilateral relations between India and Comoros. Dr Dewakaar Goel, a distinguished author with 17 published books, praised the festival as a global bridge connecting multiple countries through the power of literature.
Renowned writer Robin Bhatt commended the fusion of literature and film writing, a distinctive feature of this festival. Savita Singh, a celebrated author and poetess, lauded the grand scale and societal relevance of the Global Literary Festival Noida.

The unveiling was done by none other than our own Rocket man R Madhavan who made the film ‘Rocketary : The Nambi Effect’ on ex-ISRO space scientist Nambi Narayanan. The writer, actor, director and producer of the film, R Madhavan was also bestowed upon with the National Award in the Best Film category for his monumental efforts to make this film.
Interestingly, along with R Madhavan, the great aerospace scientist Nambi Narayanan himself was also present who looked very pleased to be invited for the unveiling ceremony. The specially erected Rocket-like structure reminded him of his glorious days as a scientist at ISRO.

Along with the township, the Rocket was also unveiled with much fun-fare. With all its glitter and glamour, effective and attractive lighting thrown in and the bursting of crackers it seemed as if one of the real Rockets is being sent to another space mission. What made the occasion extra special was that the Rocket was unveiled in the presence of Rocket Boys : R. Madhavan and ex-ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan who cheered for the Rocket of another kind.
Talking as a chief guest during the unveiling of ‘Kanakia Sillicon Valley’ R Madhavan said, “I am glad someone thought of paying tribute to the rich legacy of our space missions over the years and our recent stride to moon through Chandrayaan-3, in a unique and innovative way. I am happy that I and Nambi Narayanan sir both have been chosen to inaugurate this prestigious project. The thoughtfully constructed Rocket-like structure in the premises symbolises the spirit of India which has reached a place over the moon where no one has ever attempted to land before.”
The construction at ‘Kanakia Silicon Valley’ is in full swing. Out of the total 1000 flats being constructed under the project, total 550 flats are now ready and other 450 flats would be ready in another few months. कमलाश्री फिल्म्स प्राइवेट लिमिटेड, वाराणसी के बैनर तले बन रहे टीवी धारावाहिक “काशी विश्वनाथ” का मुहूर्त 21 सितंबर को मुंबई के मढ आइलैंड क्षेत्र में हुआ। जहां काशी से आगत आचार्य सुरेश चंद्र शुक्ल जी, पंडित अतुल शुक्ल जी के नेतृत्व में विद्वान आचार्यों द्वारा पूजा अर्चना और वैदिक मंत्रों के उच्चारण के साथ मुहूर्त कर शूटिंग शुरू की गई। निर्माता दिलीप सोनकर ने इस अवसर पर कहा कि टीवी सीरियल काशी विश्वनाथ के माध्यम से विश्वभर में विराट सनातन संस्कृति को पहुंचाने के उद्देश्य से इसे बनाया जा रहा है।|कमलाश्री फिल्म्स के मुंबई कार्यालय पर इस धारावाहिक के निर्माण के लिए वर्ष भर से लगभग 50 लोगों की टीम की कड़ी मेहनत के बाद इसे फ्लोर पर लाया गया है। इस धार्मिक धारावाहिक के गहरे शोध का कार्य एफटीआई पासआउट डॉक्टर डी एल कश्यप ने किया है जिनको 25 सालों से काशी पर संपूर्ण रूप से शोध करने का अनुभव प्राप्त है। इस धारावाहिक में फिल्म और टीवी जगत के प्रसिद्ध कलाकार और अभिनेता पुराणों में वर्णित भूमिका में नज़र आने वाले हैं। प्रमुख पात्र भगवान विश्वनाथ की भूमिका गगन मालिक, पालनकर्ता भगवान श्रीहरी की भूमिका विशाल करवाल के साथ टीवी जगत के विख्यात कलाकार नज़र आएंगे। हरीश बिमानी का पार्श्व स्वर इसमे प्रयोग किया गया है जो बॉलीवुड के जाने माने पार्श्व सूत्रधार हैं, जिन्होंने बी आर चोपड़ा के सीरियल महाभारत से लेकर तमाम फ़िल्मों और धारावाहिकों में अपनी बुलंद आवाज़ दी है।
इस धारावाहिक के क्रिएटिव प्रोड्यूसर रंजीत कावले ने कहा कि टीवी सीरियल काशी विश्वनाथ में ज्ञानवापी में स्थित आदि विशेश्वर शिव लिंग की कथा से लेकर विराट हिंदू सनातन धर्म की उत्त्पति और संस्कृति पर विस्तृत रूप से चित्रण किया जा रहा है जैसे वेदों और पवित्र पौराणिक ग्रंथों में उल्लिखित हैं।
बता दें कि पवित्र पावन भूमि काशी और उसके महत्व को दर्शाने वाली कथाओं को हुबहू पर्दे पर उतारने का अथक प्रयास सृजनात्मक निर्माता रणजीत कावले द्वारा किया जा रहा है। इसके सहयोगी निर्माणकर्ता हिमांशु तिवारी, धनजय सिंह और अजय सिंह हैं। इस सीरियल के निर्माण का बीड़ा काशी के लाल दिलीप सोनकर ने उठाया है।
उल्लेखनीय है कि इनके लोकप्रिय धारावाहिक “रणभेरी, लाल रेखा और “परशुराम” रहे हैं जो लोगों को काफी पसन्द रहे हैं। अब दिलीप सोनकर काशी विश्वनाथ की महिमा, ज्ञानवापी की कथा, आदि विशेश्वर से गौरी श्रृंगार तक की कथा को जन जन तक पहुंचाने के लिए तैयार हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि अगले साल तक इस सीरियल को दूरदर्शन के राष्ट्रीय चैनल के अलावा देश के कई चैनलों और ओटीटी प्लेटफार्मों पर दर्शक देख पाएंगे।
श्री दिलीप सोनकर ने बताया कि काशी महादेव शिव का आनंदवन, महाकाल का महाश्मशान, भोले शंकर की प्रिय नगरी काशी जहाँ स्वयं भगवान् शिव, बाबा विश्वनाथ के रूप में सदैव उपस्थित रहते हैं उनका कहना है कि हमारे धर्म ग्रन्थ पुराण मिथक नहीं अपितु इतिहास हैं, हमारे सनातन धर्म का आइना हैं तथा हमारी प्राचीन संस्कृति और सभ्यता के द्योतक है। उन्हीं धर्म ग्रंथों में स्पष्ट रूप से वर्णित है कि काशी संसार की प्राचीनतम नगरी है, जो भगवान् शिव के त्रिशूल के अग्रभाग पर स्थित है।
धारावाहिक की रचना में बीजेपी के वरिष्ठ नेता पूर्व सांसद डॉ. विजय सोनकर शास्त्री जी के नेतृत्व में काशी के विद्वानों का विचार लिया जा रहा है, जिसमें काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर से जुड़े और तीर्थ पुरोहित से लेकर वहाँ की तमाम विभूतियों को जोड़ा गया है, ताकि इस टीवी धारावाहिक काशी विश्वनाथ से जुड़ी कोई भी गाथा छूट ना जाय और पुराणों में उल्लेखित प्राणमिकता भी बनी रहे। काशी से जुड़ी घटनाक्रमों को मनोरंजक तरीके से तैयार करने के लिए इसकी पटकथा तमाम पौराणिक धारावाहिकों की पटकथा लिखने वाले गोपाल वर्मा द्वारा तैयार की गई हैI धारावाहिक का निर्देशन शरद पाण्डेय जी द्वारा किया जा रहा है। गीतों की रचना स्वर्गीय रवीन्द्र जैन के सहयोगी सुरेश तिवारी जी कर रहे हैं। इस टीवी सीरियल में गगन मलिक, विन्ध्या तिवारी, झलक देसाई, दीपक दत्त शर्मा,रंजीत कावले, कुणाल सिंह राजपूत, रमेश गोयल , निर्भय वाधवा, अष्टभुजा मिश्रा, ओम शंकर पाण्डेय, शिव यादव ,रिया सोनी, ब्रावनी पराशर,अरुण बक्शी, मुकुल नाग, अमन माहेश्वरी, स्वरनीम नीमा, साक्षी परिहार, राजा कापसे ,सुनील नागर आदि अनेक प्रसिद्ध टीवी सितारे नज़र आयेंगे।
